We are thrilled to announce that Joyce Ash’s magnificent poetry book, Beautiful Fire has won the prestigious African Literature Association (USA), Book of the Year Award – Creative Writing (2020). The Award is given for an outstanding book of African literature, whether novel, non-fiction prose, play, or poetry collection, published in the preceding calendar year by an African writer. Authors must be current members of the ALA. The African Literature Association (ALA-USA) is the world’s largest scholarly body dedicated to the promotion of African literature.
Published in April 2018, Beautiful Fire has been on our bestseller list for over two years. The Press nominated Beautiful Fire in October 2019 for the ALA award and we’re profoundly delighted to count it amongst the best of our titles.
