Set in the colonial period in Cameroon precisely from 1910 to 1921, Boundless tells the story of Samarah, a ten year old princess, ripped from her village in the North West of Cameroon due to a raid by the Germans, and forced to serve as a slave in the South-Western part of the country. Losing just about everyone and everything she cares about this young woman must adjust to the never-ending changes in her surroundings, battle her inner demons, and finally come to terms with her erring heart in her search for meaning and a sense of purpose in this alien world which was once familiar and safe to her. She realizes that to move forward one must look backwards.Boundless, a novel which touches on the transition of colonial rule from the Germans to the Anglo-French, dwells on the idea of self-hood, the quest for identity, belonging and freedom, and the human being’s limitless ability to adapt, survive and forgive in a world torn apart by racism, war and colonialism. Living in this world and facing this reality will Samarah finally fulfill her calling and find the love of her life?
