Emmanuel Mutisya is a Senior Education Economist Consultant and a Sustainability Specialist at the African Development Bank’s Human Capital, Youth and Skills Development Department. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Nairobi’s Wangari Maathai Institute of Peace and Environmental Studies.
Previously, he has worked as a Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate Program in Sustainability Science, Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI) and a Coordinator of the Education for Sustainable Development in Africa (ESDA) and Next Generation of Researchers (NGR) Group at the United Nations University’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS).
Dr. Mutisya’s research and training areas include: sustainability science, impact evaluation, project management, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, sustainable urban development, agribusiness, green growth, renewable energy, and water and sanitation.
Dr. Mutisya was educated in Kenya, Sweden and Japan. He holds a Master of Science in Mathematics from Karlstad University in Sweden, Master of Arts in Public Administration from the International Christian University in Japan and a PhD in Sustainability Science from the University of Tokyo.
