John Ngong Kum Ngong is an educationist with a master’s degree in African literature from the University of Yaoundé and a Certificate in Reading in a Foreign Language from the University of Birmingham, England. Presently a senior citizen, he has been a school administrator for over two decades with the Ministry of Secondary Education in Cameroon. Writing since his university days, his poems, short stories, and plays have appeared in anthologies and journals worldwide.
With many published collections of poetry to his credit, Ngong’s Walls of Agony (2006) won the maiden EduArt Bate Besong Prize for poetry in 2007. In 2023, The Association of Cameroonian Poets and Writers (APEC) recognised his outstanding contribution to Cameroon art by awarding him the rank of “Dignitaire de la plume.”
