Nsah Mala is a poet, children’s author, writer, editor, translator, teacher, and literary scholar from Mbesa, Cameroon. He writes in Mbesa, English, and French. He has published five poetry collections: Chaining Freedom, Bites of Insanity, If You Must Fall Bush, CONSTIMOCRAZY: Malafricanising Democracy, and Les Pleurs du mal (French). As a writer for children, his published picture books include: Andolo – the Talented Albino (English), Andolo – l’albinos talentueux (French), Little Gabriel Starts to Read (English), and Le petit Gabriel commence à lire (French). Nsah Mala’s picture book, What the Moon Cooks, will be published in fall 2022 by POW! Kids Books (USA).
He has co-edited an international bilingual poetry anthology on the war in Anglophone Cameroon titled Corpses of Unity – Cadavres de l’unité (2020). He has also translated the picture book Be a Coronavirus Fighter (Yeehoo Press) into French as Un Combattant du Coronavirus (March 2020). He won the Ministry of Arts and Culture Short Story Prize (Cameroon) in 2016 and le Prix Littéraire Malraux (France) in 2017. He is an alumnus of the Caine Prize Writing Workshop.
